AccessCNY Presents Anything That Rolls

This Sunday over 600 people will join AccessCNY at Onondaga Lake Parkway for Anything That Rolls, an inclusive community wellness event. In its fourth year, Anything That Rolls is a non-competitive event where participants of all abilities “roll” down the Parkway on bikes, adapted bikes, skates, wheelchairs and strollers. Other attendees may choose to walk or run.

Anything That Rolls is hosted on Onondaga Lake Parkway. In the last several years the Central New York tradition of shutting down the Parkway on Sunday mornings for recreation purposes has ceased. AccessCNY has received special permission to close the Parkway for Anything That Rolls. The Parkway’s width and flatness help ensure that people of all abilities can easily participate in the event. Anything That Rolls will be the summer’s only chance to ride the Parkway. The Parkway will be closed from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with the cutting of the starting ribbon. The event starts at Wegmans’ Landing by the main park entrance on Onondaga Lake Parkway near the skate park. Free activities for kids will include arts and crafts, an adapted bike course, wheelchair basketball and face painting.

An awards ceremony recognizing the top teams and individuals will take place at 11:15. Proceeds from Anything That Rolls support AccessCNY’s services that enhance the quality of life for people with physical or developmental disabilities, an acquired brain injury or a mental health diagnosis. Wherever possible services are delivered in the community to improve the quality of life of the individual.

To date, the event has raised over $26,000 from community members and corporate donors. Major sponsors include Empower Federal Credit Union, Walmart, Custom Wealth Management and Wegmans.
