Guide to Health Care Decisions for Individuals with Disabilities Released
In response to requests from families AccessCNY has released a new booklet on health care decisions for individuals with disabilities. The booklet highlights different options and procedures for making these difficult decisions. The information is provided solely as a resource for families so they may be thinking about these important decisions before facing a terminal illness of a loved one.
The booklet covers:
- Health Care Proxies
- Medical decisions for individuals who lack capacity
- Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (MOLST)
- Requests to withhold or withdraw life-sustaining treatment
- Non-hospital Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders
The guide serves as a summary of already existing regulations and is meant for informational purposes only.
AccessCNY is pleased to provide this resource for all in the community to benefit from.
