Agnes’ CDPA Journey
Twenty-five years ago, Agnes found herself in a tough situation. As an active young woman with small children at home, the traditional homecare model wasn’t meeting her needs, but there were no alternatives.
After a year without services for her Cerebral Palsy, Agnes learned about AccessCNY’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance (CDPA) program and signed up. Since that day, Agnes says CDPA has been “foundational” to her life.
For the past 12 years, Agnes’ personal assistant Mary has assisted her with a variety of personal care tasks such as shopping and meal prepping. However, it is Mary’s help with nail and hair care that Agnes says she appreciates most because “it allows me to feel like a woman.”
