Cerebral palsy (CP) is a developmental disability that affects approximately 17 million people worldwide. It is caused by a disruption in brain development and results in challenges to a person’s balance, posture, and muscle use. There are different types of CP and people with CP have different symptoms. Some people have physical difficulties, some have intellectual difficulties and some have both.

World CP Day is Wednesday, October 7th. It’s a day when we can all come together to show our support for individuals with CP.

Ricky Ryder, AccessCNY Board President, has cerebral palsy. Here he is, riding a recumbent bike down Onondaga Lake Parkway.

Tell us what you want people to know about living with CP! Or, do you know someone with CP? Share a photo, memory or story of the two of you on our Facebook page on October 7th!
